LODGING AND MEALS:
All your meals are prepared by a private chef who provides a healthful menu supplemented with delicious freshly baked breads and pastries. Our chef will accommodate any special dietary needs.
Our lodging is a reflection of our focus of the week: workshopping! We are lodging in a gorgeous 6-bedroom home in Warrington, Oregon – a few miles south of Astoria. This helps us maximize our time for brainstorming, creative thinking, technical troubleshooting and in general having a blast as a group working.
Because we're sharing one big house, participants must be comfortable sharing a bedroom with one other student.
After a full day of shooting, we will gather in the house common areas for workshopping and presentations in the evenings. Enjoy lectures and discussions in a large common area with plenty of comfortable seating, and get some quiet time for editing in several tucked-away spaces set up for working.
Please note: During the week you’ll be shooting as a group, in pairs and on your own. You’ll need to arrange a rental car to be able to get to all shooting locations.

WHAT PAST STUDENTS SAY
“I just finished an intensive class learning so much about how to create photographs to tell a story. The lectures during this class were very relative and properly timed. “I just completed an intensive conservation photojournalism workshop with Jaymi and Morgan Heim. It was an incredibly valuable experience. Throughout the week we received informative classroom lectures, assignments and several in-the-field photo assignments. And through it all we weren't just students, we were photojournalists, working a project documenting and raising awareness of an incredible conservation organization. I was pushed outside my comfort zone several times but through that learned what I was capable of while still receiving expert guidance from Jaymi and Mo. I walked away with skills beyond my expectations. Thank you, Jaymi and Mo, for a life-altering experience!” – Teri F
“I just got home from the Conservation Photojournalism Workshop. I was so glad I was able to get a spot in the workshop. I learned so much about creating a story telling portfolio. The nightly image reviews and portfolio review at the end were so helpful to teaching me how to take a photograph the conveys a story in itself. “I spent one whole week with Jaymi and Mo at the Conservation Photojournalism Intensive course. The course was an extraordinary experience of learning, sharing and being creative. The challenge of developing a powerful story for an association committed by heart to the conservation of their local forests leaves me full of energy to create more stories. Thanks Jaymi for being a wonderful host, thanks you both (Jaymi and Mo) for being supportive, empathic and the best photography/storytellers instructors I could have ever asked for.
